1500 miles from here is a concrete pad with a pump and an alloy placque stamped with the name Cross Point. (There's no "e" at the end of Pointe--but it's us...) Living Waters provides the placques to remind the people of the village of the date and donor of the well. While our church name is on the placque, we are not a donor. Nor is Living Waters International. The donor is Christ. The gift is not the well, but His love. And the people of Limon did not receive a gift, but gave a gift of love in return. And it was not their gift, but His gift to us. Our team, led by Mike Nevin, which included Sandy, Mike, Beth, John, Dave, Shaun, Christie, Glennis, Roger (from Ohio), and Bill (from Jackson Way Baptist here in Huntsville) was served by the people of Limon--because of Christ. They gave us the best they had each day. Their food, their school, their kids, their trust, their smiles. Back in 1992, some men in Texas gave their best in creating and laboring to get this ministry started. The love of Jesus Christ motivated them to use their money and experience to minister to people needing water. They had the means. They also had the Holy Spirit in their hearts.
Here in Alabama, if we want a well drilled, we have the means to pay for it, or pay on credit. We can have it in a matter of weeks. We hire a drilling company. In Limon, there is only hope and prayer. There is no time table. There is no credit card. In Limon, prayers were answered this week. Can you imagine?
The team was priviledged to serve God and to serve Cross Pointe and to serve along side of Living Waters International. But we were served by all of those who gave their time and money and gifts to this Mission. We were served by you. And we were served by Gayl Glenn, who gave each of us a packet of letters, one for each day we were gone, offering her prayers and thoughts and encouragement. And by all of you who prayed about us and for the success of our Mission. And by those precious people who we left behind to watch over our children, and pets, and homes. And by the men and women and boys and girls of Limon. Emilio, our LW site leader, a native Honduran who spoke English with a Jamaican accent, told me one morning......"Dave, you know we have Spanish and we have English, and you ask me to translate for you, the words you cannot say. When I am not around, there is still translation going on. The language you speak by being here, and the language they speak by their gratefulness.....that language is Love. God's love. They see it. They feel it. They know it. In you. By your presence and actions. You don't need me to translate. God translates."
Living Waters International is God's love. Cross Pointe church is God's love. The people of Limon who prayed for clean water are God's love. We, all of you who had a hand in this Mission, even in the smallest way, are God's love. We all acted because of our Love for our savior who delivered us into His hands and resides in our hearts. We are so grateful for what He has done in each of our lives, that we want to give. And give. So while their is a placque on a pad by a well in Limon, Honduras, where their was a ditch in front of a two room school last week, the miracle is the power of Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns in us.
"Let us not become weary in doing good for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up." Galations 6:9
Thank you Glennis for allowing me to blog (I don't even know what that means...........) on behalf of our team.
Love,
Dave, Mike N., Sandy, Mike G., Shaun, Beth, John, Glennis, Christie, Bill, and Roger

We dig a hole, and,
We dig a hole and we put the devil in." (complements of Alfredo, Emilio, and Elizabeth) Ask John to sing it for you.........
