Wow! What a day in HOnduras!
The water well was finished today, all except for the spicket that will be inserted tomorrow morning before the dedication ceremoney. The men worked hard in the sweltering Honduras heat today. The concrete pad was poured and we were so proud to see the CrossPointe >Plaque that is mounted on the well. A big thank you to CPCfor donating the money for this well. It will be such a blessing for this village called Limon.
It has been an interesting day. First the Hygiene team went thru the village stopping at homes and visiting with some of the residents. We were invited to a home and an elderly lady that had a twinkle in her yee. She said she had pour health and would be unable to be at the ceremoney,so we layed hands on her and prayed for her.Later that day, we were able to take her a spanish bible,(thank you Paul Harvey) and she was very thankful. Roberto one of the local villagers took us on a tour of his farm where he grows banana trees, oranges and beans. He was most proud of his farm and madeus really think, when others come to our home,do we offer them our best? At every home we visited they would bring out their best chairs and offer us their best drink, usually a pepsi! These are the most gracious people I have ever encountered.
Some of the team went to the nearby village to check on thei well that they drilled last year and Beth was thrilled to see the little girl Bwessie whom she bonded with last year. Bessie ran out with open arms and remembered Beth. It was also a very special time when some of the previous year team found a man who had cut up oranges for them last year, but now he is very ill and even maybedying. The team prayed over him and asked for >God to heal him.
The hygiene team went out into the homes and spread the news about the ORS ( oral rehydration solution) a simple solution of sugar, salt and clean water. This solution has saved the lives of thousands due to the diahriah in these viallges which dehydrate the children. The villagers listened carefully and were thankful to have these supplies right in their own kitchen! A
After the meeting the young damas invited the CPC damas to achallenging game of football. (soccer!) Needless to say it was a very competitive game and now CPC has an official womens team!
We ended the day watching the locals finish the concrete pad on the well, taking ownership and making it perfect. They are so excited about thier new well. We found out that during the dry season there is no water in the village at all. TThis well will allow them to have water during these dry times, which will be a huge blessing. They are so appreciative that they cook us a lunch meal every day. >Once we got past the chicken that was hanging upside down (lunch that day ) we were relieved to find out that the meal was actually excellente!
Forgive my typing and misspelling. The keyboard sticks and the character buttons are in weird places, but we are thankful to have internet.
Living water has done an incrediable job of taking care of us and making surewe are learning more than just the well digging. They help us to spread thegospel with the village, and have showed us all that our small part in theis adventure will help hundreds. We are most thankful that the Lord has brought us to this country and will never again take for granted just one cup of water.
Tonight is our last night at Hotel Ejecutivos. Tomorrow we have the ceremony and then leave for the next hotel I believe called Canada. HIt is on the beach and we can enjoy snorkeling and a zip line if we choose. Wewill be there for 2 nights and then leave very early for the trip home on Saturday. We are all exhausted tonight but very happy and content that the work we have done will in some small way benefit these gracious people who have been sucha blessing to our team.
If we have the ability to blog when we leave We will,if not we will seeyou allin a few days!
Adios!
Blessings your CPC LWI Honduras Team
