It has been 5 days since an earthquake struck the small island of Haiti. Five days of tragedy beyond my comprehension - relief has been pouring into the small island's capital (the site of the most destruction) of Port au Prince. As I watch the images on tv I wonder how long it will take to clear away the rubble. I have several friends who have gone on mission trips to Haiti and have returned to tell us that it is an impovrished country with no infrastructure. I am praying that our country will help these people start over. New Life Haiti a member of Mission Fields is working hard to help fill in where they can. I have communicated with Debbie Hutchinson and found out that she is north of most of the destruction and has suffered no real loss. Just read a note from Debbie they are preparing to go the the diaster area and fix well pumps with the national team. |
